As the proud owner of WooCommerce enabled e-store, you can’t deny having enjoyed a multitude of features and functions that have served handy for gathering the attention of targeted customers. Role based pricing is one such stunning feature you can’t afford to miss for your e-commerce website.
Through this tutorial, I intend to share with you some of the highly recognizable reasons behind usage of role-based pricing approach. In addition to this, I’ll also be discussing about the basic process that’s involved with implementation of role based pricing for your WooCommerce powered e-store.
Before moving ahead, let’s understand the significance of ‘Role-based pricing’ in WooCommerce enabled e-stores with the help of a simple example.
WooCommerce’s Role-based pricing feature comes handy under situations were you want to allocate product prices based on the exact role of customer defined in the e-store’s back end.
For example, while some of the customers will be normal retail customers, others may be bulk buyers or might have gotten on website via any promotion. Therefore, for a specific category of customers, you may want to offer a 10% discount lifetime or a festive discount of 50%. It is here that you can use the Role-based pricing utility for setting a price range for a single product, with different prices allotted for different kinds of users. To sum it all up. Each time a non-logged in user/ a plain visitor arrives on your e-store, he/she will be shown the normal price for the chosen product. But, as soon as he/she logged into his/her customer account, an altogether different product price will be showcased based on the role defined for him/her by the e-store administrator.
Now, let us get to know the steps that will mark an appropriate use of WooCommerce Role-based pricing utility.
WooCommerce expects you to use the WooCommerce Role Pricing plugin for availing the flexibility of assigning different prices for different groups of buyers.
